Project Case Study: Innovative Network Rail Bridge Replacement at Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire (1.65 MiB)Sometimes, the space restrictions of a working environment mean that a straight-forward move doesn’t actually involve moving straight forwards. This is where our team excels, using experience and equipment to find an innovative solution for this rail bridge project.

Project Case Study : Lifting an 81-metre long bridge section at Manchester Airport (263.81 KiB)When bridges need building, one of the biggest challenges for contractors is time: how to complete a job efficiently so that minimum disruption is caused to travellers, commuters, businesses, and bottom lines. In Manchester, we were able to help mitigate the impact of downtime and road closures when we helped to install a new, £6 million pedestrian and cycle bridge over the M56 motorway spur road at Airport City – linking two key parts of the Manchester Airport extension.

OSPREY; NETWORK RAIL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
OSPREY; NETWORK RAIL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
Our teams have moved all kinds of structures for the rail network, including replacing one of Network Rail’s 1900 bridges. This new type of installation – direct fix – has all the infrastructure in place, prior to installation. Less risk, more sustainable infrastructure and, crucially, an increased line speed through this part of the network.

A great video from Network Rail, showing how we removed and installed a new rail bridge for our client, J. Murphy and Sons. It's not everyday you see a bridge being driven past your window.
OSPREY: BRIDGE INSTALLATION FOR JAGUAR LAND ROVER
OSPREY: BRIDGE INSTALLATION FOR JAGUAR LAND ROVER
Early, collaborative planning delivers best-practice logistics. At the JLR site, our project was split into three phases: Jacking, moving and installing, using hydraulic climbing jacks, SPMT's and our LG1550 mobile crane.
OSPREY MOVES UK'S HEAVIEST BRIDGE
OSPREY MOVES ONE OF UK'S HEAVIEST SINGLE-SPAN BRIDGES
Osprey has recently moved the UK’s heaviest single-span bridge. Weighing in at 5,200 tonnes, we transported the bridge in one piece using a 144-axle self-propelled modular transport (SPMT) with 576 wheels and an innovative arrangement of hydraulic jacks and longitudinal beams.
BRIDGE INSTALLATION - MANCHESTER AIRPORT
BRIDGE INSTALLATION - MANCHESTER AIRPORT
We can make a difference with our approach to special logistics. When we installed this £6m footbridge at Manchester airport, we reduced the downtime greatly for commuters and businesses at the airport by closing the M56 and working right through the night, using our SPMTs.
M1 BRIDGE LOGISTICS
